Local Parking Hacks, Caltrain, & Best K-Food Spots Must Know Before You Go
Welcome to the Bay Area, ARMY!
BTS is finally here for their massive, sold-out “ARIRANG” World Tour at Stanford Stadium (May 16, 17, and 19)! Since this is the only Northern California stop, around 150,000 fans are descending upon Palo Alto.
If you didn’t score a prepaid campus parking pass before they sold out, or if you want to avoid the post-concert traffic nightmare, don’t panic. As a Bay Area local, I’ve put together this quick, stress-free guide to help you navigate Stanford, save money, and find the best Korean food for your after-party.
🛑 The Stanford Parking Situation (And How to Hack It)
First, a major heads-up: Stanford Athletics requires prepaid parking passes for the stadium lots, and they sell out incredibly fast. If you try to just drive up to the stadium on show day without a pass, you will be turned away.
Here are the best local alternatives:
1. The Downtown Palo Alto Garages (The Smartest Choice)
Instead of fighting campus traffic, drive into Downtown Palo Alto. The city has several public parking garages (like the High Street or Bryant Street garages) that offer free or very cheap parking on weekends.
- The Hack: Park downtown, grab a bite, and either take a rideshare or enjoy a beautiful 20-25 minute walk through the Stanford Palm Drive directly to the stadium.
2. Take Caltrain (The Traffic-Free Option)
Skip driving entirely. Take Caltrain and get off at the Palo Alto Station. From the station, Stanford Stadium is an easy, flat 10-15 minute walk. You’ll be walking alongside thousands of other ARMYs, making the walk feel like part of the pre-show festival!
3. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) Drop-off Hack
If you are taking an Uber, do not pin Stanford Stadium as your destination. Traffic on El Camino Real and Galvez St will be a standstill. Instead, have your driver drop you off near Town & Country Village (across the street from the stadium) or near the Palo Alto Caltrain station, and walk the rest of the way.
🥢 Where to Eat: Best K-Food & After-Party Spots
You can’t celebrate a BTS concert without some authentic Korean food! While Santa Clara’s ultimate K-town is about a 15-minute drive down El Camino, you have excellent, closer options right around the corner:
1. Palo Alto Downtown & California Ave
If you want to stay close to the transit hubs, head to Downtown Palo Alto or California Ave. There are fantastic local spots for casual Korean comfort food, bento boxes, and quick bites that are perfect before or after the show.
2. Mountain View (Castro Street)
Just a couple of Caltrain stops (or a 10-minute drive) south is Castro Street in Mountain View. It is packed with amazing, authentic Korean restaurants, including late-night Tofu houses, Korean Fried Chicken joints, and K-BBQ spots perfect for an ARMY after-party.
3. K-Grocery Food Court
If you are staying closer to San Jose / Sunnyvale / Santa Clara area or driving in from the south, make a pit stop at the Mega Mart or H-Mart around the area. Their food court hits the spot with incredible street-style food, kimbap, and tteokbokki. It’s highly efficient for busy concert days!
